Dynamic UI - Personalization of the OVERALL PayTV viewing experience

“Personalization” is a word we hear alot in the Pay TV space. TV viewers are demanding it and operators are scrambling to deliver it. Many say that personalization is the way operators will succeed in today’s ever-changing landscape. TV viewers find their viewing experiences frustrating and the search and discovery portion of this experience is perhaps the most cumbersome. The rise of OTT has given viewers a ton more choices, contributing to the frustration. 

 

Pay TV operators are definitely feeling the effects of OTT. Their subscribers are flocking to OTT services and in order to compete, Pay TV operators know that they have to incorporate OTT into their offerings, as stated in a recent article by Light Reading’s Alan Breznick. This integration increases content and service choices for the subscriber but personalization goes beyond just aggregated content recommendations.  Pay TV operators find their subscribers’ still desire an OVERALL personalized viewing experience.

 

Alticast is committed to helping Pay TV address these issues. We have developed a “Dynamic UI” that will help operators provide this level of personalization based on data generated from the viewer’s behavior and content taste. Not only will content be aggregated and recommended across the OTT and Pay TV services , but the entire UI will be personalized …from menu configuration to the UI ​ (personalized or operator’s default)​ the viewer wishes to watch.
