That being said, one thing we’ve come to recognize is that the Asia-Pac market takes a back seat to no one when it comes to implementing breakthrough technologies that can transform customer experiences.
Whether its cloud
PVR, 4K
UHD or expedited upgrades of conditional
access systems, we’ve seen how our customers and others in the Asia-Pac
market are rolling out services that engage viewers, improve the consumer
experience and ensure secure delivery, especially of high-value content.
With the 2018 Winter Olympics headed to PyeongChang, South
Korea in particular has been raising the already high bar of its broadband
infrastructure quality. Akamai’s “State
of the Internet” report notes that more than 60% of South Korean broadband
connections are above the 15Mbps required for successful 4K UHD delivery.
South Korea is hardly alone in its quest for
telecommunications excellence. Hong Kong
and Japan also score highly within the Akamai study, and we’ve experienced
firsthand the eagerness of other operators – including a major
Vietnamese pay-TV provider -- to leverage our technologies for cross-platform
delivery of live and on-demand services.
Next week, we’ll be using one of Asia-Pac’s premiere industry
events – Broadcast Asia in Singapore – as a showcase for a new
turnkey solution that combines business intelligence, publishing, and
content protection systems pay-TV operators and content providers require for
rapid market entry into the OTT space.
If you’re in Singapore for the show, visit us at Booth 4C3-01 in the TV
Everywhere Zone to learn more.
And whether you’re at the show or not, keep your ear to the
ground on the Asia-Pac market: Our experience has been that when pay-TV
innovation, such as our turnkey OTT solution, surfaces, you can count on the
region to be among the first to bring it to market.
